WFD implementation in the Odense river basin, Denmark

Odense Fjord and the associated catchment - collectively referred to as Odense River Basin - is one of the Pilot River Basins selected for testing of the WFD CIS Guidance Documents. Fyb County is responsable for carrying out the project under the supervision of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.


Up to this stage, the Guidance Documents have been tested through the preparation of a provisional Article 5 report to the EU and a provisional River Basin Management Plan for the surface waters and the groundwaters in de Odense River Basin, to be completed by the end of 2006. The Article 5 report concerns the characterisation and analysis of the Odense River Basin encompassing Odense Fjord and associated catchment area, including inland surface waters, wetlands and groundwater.
