COAST-BEST - Review of appropriate dredging techniques on the basis of environmental and economic issues

The report assesses the most appropriate dredging techniques on the basis of environmental and economic issues among mechanical dredging, hydraulic dredging, environmental dredging, etc. in order to identify the most adequate sediments withdrawal process. This is done on the basis of both the properties of sediments from different port areas of the project and the different available management option. The review includes: (i) an evaluation of the ports to be dredged; (ii) an evaluation of the preliminary characterisation data; (iii) an overview of the dredging system; (iv) selection of the working method for the project; (v) an economic evaluation.
