The guidebook provides a step by step methodology for implementing multifunctional land use in the urban fringe zone. The methodology expresses the socio-economic benefits of a valued urban fringe zone and provides examples of learning experiences. The methodology is based on the idea that multifuctionality must be coherent to the way people value an area. Because watercourses in urban fringe zones offer a great opportunity for multifuctional use and unlock many values, they are considered a backbone for the development of multifunctionality.
