PHS in NPR - Protection of habitats and species in Nature Park "Razna"
The project aimed to draw up a comprehensive management plan for the whole Nature Park, in close collaboration with all key interest groups and stakeholders. First, it is carrying out a detailed inventory and habitat mapping of the Park to identify the most sensitive areas and the location of key threats. Then it creates a database of all landowners in the area, in order to be able to involve them in the management planning process. For the five largest lakes, individual management plans and water regulations are also drawn up & some initial restoration work carried out. One important target is to reduce illegal fishing by 50% and to regulate the recreational activities along the lake shores. This requires public awareness-raising, targeting both the local communities and visitors. Numerous activities are implemented to draw their attention to the need to protect the areas valuable resources and to enlist their support for using the lake areas sustainably long-term.
