DIFPOLMINE - Prevention of surface water pollution by mining activities - implementation report
The Difpolmine project has set several objectives :
- To design and implement an appropriate water management system (i.e. devise a surface water collection network aimed at minimizing soil erosion and at directing the water to the proper channel depending on the level of residual contamination).
- To study and implement a plan for the final revegetation of surface areas by applying a phytostabilisation protocol designed to strengthen the cohesion of the soil, increase infiltration to the detriment of runoff (which will consequently contribute to a decrease in erosion).
- To design and implement follow-up measures for the evaluation of this plan of action from the point of view of both concentrations and mass flow rates.
- To study the transferability of the concept to the Gyöngyösoroszi site in the North of Hungary.
This document presents the studies and works carried out up to december 2006.
