FOOT-NES - Pesticide risk assessment and management tools at National and European scales
FOOT-NES (NES: National and European Scales), a deliverable of the FOOTPRINT project, is a pesticide risk prediction and management tool mainly targeted at EU and member states policy- and decision-makers, and pesticide registration authorities. The tools will either use meta-models or real time models depending on the application under consideration while the classification of the European agricultural land according to the dominant transfer pathways will be undertaken using the IDPR approach. The objectives of the FOOT-NES tool are to: 1) identify those large areas which are most at risk of pesticide contamination; and, 2) assess the probability of pesticide concentrations exceeding legal or eco-toxicologically-based thresholds at the member state and EU levels. FOOT-NES will be developed as an ArcGIS add-on and will include an automated parameterisation system to support higher-tier modelling applications within the context of pesticide registration.
