- NIVA Fjord model
Coupled physical-biochemical dynamic simulation model for eutrophication in fjords. In particular suitable for enclosed sill fjords, with emphasis on deep-water hypoxia. The fjord is described as consisting of a variable number of connected basins, with detailed vertical resolution and horisontal averaging within each basin. Dynamic simulation of vertical mixing and horisontal exhange between basins. Chemical/biological modules include primary production with zooplankton/mussel grazing, sinking and degradation of organic matter on water column and sediment. Models response on riverine or direct discharges of nutrients and and organic matter. Submerged discharges integrated in physical model.
