The project MOTIIVE objectives were to:
- Demonstrate the value of open-standards to deliver services;
- Develop a documented methodology for implementing and monitoring data harmonisation activities between INSPIRE core and thematic datasets;
- Apply this methodology to the data integration requirements of Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) Service Element projects in the coastal and marine environment;
- Provide a cost-benefit assessment for using interoperability specifications of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) to harmonise INSPIRE core and thematic spatial data;
- Establish a marine data standards registry under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and International Hydrographic Organisation;
- Produce a fully qualified business case for the establishment of an official OGC Working Group for Marine Data.
