
NeWater - Integration of Local and Technical Knowledge for Adaptive Water Management
The task of this report is to to identify alternative sources of information, both technical and societal, that can be used to support Adaptive Management of water resources in areas characterized by lack of information due to deficiencies in current monitoring system. A review of methodology and technology to gather data from different sources is carried out in this task. Particularly, the suitability of local knowledge and expert knowledge to monitor the state of the environmental resources is deeply investigated. The architectures of Community-based Monitoring System (CBMS) and Expert System (ES), as modules of the Advanced Monitoring Information System (AMIS), are described at the end of this work.
