The main objectives of the Eurowet project included to: synthesise the current state-of-the art of wetland research, produce a technical guidance manual to assist in integration of wetlands within the WFD, ensure the full engagement of stakeholders, disseminate wetland information to raise the awareness of the significance of wetlands in the water cycle.
Five comprehensive reviews have been prepared (not yet available on line as a book may be prepared) on the following topics: Hydrological functions of wetlands, Ecological functions of wetlands, Biogeochemical functions of wetlands, Socio-economical functions of wetlands, and Law and policy concepts and wetlands.
