Living Lakes - Guidelines for the Preparation of a Management Plan for wetlands and shallow lakes
The overall aim of this project was to demonstrate how wetlands can be restored and managed wisely in ways that are compatible with sustainable development. The two chosen sites were Nava, Spain and Nestos, Greece, where development and implementation of sustainable wetland management plans were elaborated. The document describes the contents and the process of preparing a management plan for wetlands or shallow lakes. The target group are technicians, stakeholders and decision makers involved in management of these sites or influencing the ecosystem with their activities. The publication gives answers to questions about why and how a management plan has to be established. Practical experience and examples out of the project and from various Living Lakes partners are also included.
