SLIM - Guidelines for Capacity Building for Social Learning in Integrated Catchment Management and Sustainable Use of Water
The SLIM project (Social learning for the integrated management and sustainable use of water at catchment scale) has prepared a series of policy briefings. This short document summarises the seventh of seven key themes on Capacity Building for integrated catchment management and sustainable use of water through Social Learning. It therefore examines what situations and inputs to situations of water management at catchment scale aid the development of Social Learning towards these ends. The report pays particular attention to training, but adoption of Social Learning also involves important changes in the way organisations such as government agencies operate, and much experience has shown that training on its own is not an effective way of changing organisations. The full range of inputs necessary to sustain Social Learning is therefore described.
