INNOWA - Fish community evaluation and feasibility assessment of biomanipulation of Lake Lohjanjärvi by volunteer aided multimesh gillnet survey (task 2b)
The document describes the surveys conducted to monitor and evaluate the fish population in lake Lohjanjärvi, aided by volunteers. The survey was carried out to estimate the species composition and relative abundance of fish species in different parts of the large lake and to evaluate the feasibility of biomanipulation in the Lake area. Another objective of the study was to co-operate with the local inhabitants to increase their knowledge and to achieve reductions in the price of the work. Major part of the fish release from gillnets was made by local volunteers whereas measurements of the fish were carried out by the project staff.
