PROMOTE - Efficiency control and performance verification of improved approaches for soil-groundwater protection and rehabilitation

Convincing the market of the merits of a particular environmental technology is not an easy task for technology provider, which is especially true for Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs). An established mechanism to objectively validate the performance of environmental technologies would certainly increase a purchasers confidence in new environmental technologies.1 The overall aim of the PROMOTE project was to set up an efficiency control and performance verification system for soil-groundwater protection and rehabilitation. The system was based on a performance verification concept and generic testings as applied by a European network of testing centres. The strong impact of the PROMOTE project results contributed in particular for faster market introduction of new and novel technologies and thus strenghtening the competitiveness of technology developers in Europe.. PROMOTE acquired the potential to act as one of the initiators for a European Environmental Technology Veri¬fication System, overcoming implementation barriers and bridging the gap between innovative and accepted techni¬ques.
