CLIMAWARE - Case study3: Agricultural Water Use

For the project CLIMAWARE a case study on agricultural water use is carried out in Apulia (Italy). The objectives include achieving a sustainable balance between water demand and water availability taking account of climate change, and to perform an integrated hydrological-economic modelling of the Apulia region where the hydrological model assesses the crop water requirement and the water availability (surface and groundwater), and the economic model simulates the farmers’ decision process on land crop allocation and irrigation level.
