daNUbs - Analysis of the accumulation/mobilization for the Danube case study regions in Austria, Hungary and Romania
This report aims : • to estimate the role of large floodplains, dams and impounded river reaches of the Danube in the accumulation and/or mobilisation of nutrients; • to improve: (a) the accuracy of the estimation of loads with respect to nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), and (b) the reliability of assessment of the effects of vertical concentration gradients and peak water discharges regarding nutrient transport. • to improve/upgrade the monitoring approach for data collection pertaining to the calculation of nutrient loads in the Danube river. In order to achieve these specific objectives a tailored sampling and analysis programme was designed and implemented in selected Danube reaches. (Deliverable D 4.4: Report on the analysis of the accumulation/mobilization of nutrients, improvement of load estimations)
