- 4.1 Exogenous pressures in the Sebou basin, Morocco
The pressures in the Sebou basin with an exogenous character are diverse: (1) The space-time irregularity of precipitations constitutes a limiting factor of the socio-economic development of the basin; (2) a decline of the piezometric level of the groundwater due to successive and severe droughts. This grondwater level is also caused by an extension of unauthorized irrigation; (3) Underestimation of the value of the water resources. This leads to an excessive use of water resources; i.e the irrigation in the basin of Sebou consumes nearly 89 % of the potential water storage.
