
- 3. Dams and resevoirs for water storage in the the Sebou basin, Morocco
The basin of Sebou includes 10 large dams and 44 small dams and reservoirs. The dams play a capital role in the irrigation of the Gharb plain. The total capacity of storage of large dams is 5836 Mm3. The 40 small dams and resevoirs have a total storage capacity of 20 Mm3 and are primarly intended for the reinforcement of the drinking water supply, for the irrigation of small lands, for the water supply for the livestock and also for protection against the floods. New dams are planned within the framework of the integrated water management plan of the Sebou, Bou Regreg and Oum er Rbia basin. (3 – Mobilisation et utilisation des ressources en eau - p. 9)
