Harmonised Techniques and Representative River Basin Data for Assessment and Use of Uncertainty Information in IWM -Guidelines for assessing data uncertainty in river basin management studies -
HarmoniRIB - 1. Uncertainty in climatological data
14 variables are described in this chapter. All of them are expressed as continuous numbers, variable both in space and time and their empirical uncertainty can be shown through the probability distribution functions. These variables are organized into 6 sections (Precipitation, Air temperature, Solar radiation, Relative Humidity, Wind Speed, Wind Direction). Each section includes a description of the uncertainty code and the type of empirical uncertainty associated with the variable in question, a list of the users most likely to be interested in the specific variable, suggestions with regard to time/space measurement scale and to instrument precision and accuracy. Every section ends with a sketch of the state of the art of variable uncertainty characterisation, followed by several literature references.(see 3. Climatological data - p. 41)
