
- 1. Geographical and socio-economc features of the Sebou basin, Morocco
The basin of Sebou forms a basin between Rif in North, the middle Atlas and the meseta in the south, the corridor Fès - Taza in the East and the Atlantic Ocean in the West. The basin has a surface of approximately 40.000 km2; it is one of the most important basins in Morocco and contains a total population of almost 6.2 million inhabitants (census of 2004). It has agricultural and industrial activities which contribute in an important way to the national economy. The economic activity of the basin of Sebou is marked by the following sectors: Agriculture, industry, tourism and forestry (1 - Présentation générale - p. 6)
